About the Growth and Development Directorate
The Growth and Development team deliver a wide range of initiatives that support the regeneration of the city, we do this by leading and co-ordinating the Council’s input into the delivery of regeneration frameworks and major projects which contribute to the growth of the city.
The team work to promote Manchester as a place to live, work and visit. We do this by encouraging businesses to relocate here, bringing new jobs and investment to the city.
The team also seek to grow Manchester’s business base by building relationships with strategic investors and end users; and to support improved infrastructure, residential development, leisure and cultural amenities to encourage growth and build on the success of the past few years.
About Development and Investment Estate
We are part of the Growth and Development team. We provide effective management of the Councils £Bn Development & Investment Estate – a portfolio of 17,000 land and property assets with a multi-million £ rent roll, including lead responsibility for the collation and maintenance of relevant property information, data and compliance activities.
We also provide direction and leadership for the strategic asset management of the Council’s land and property assets including cross-directorate working to optimise the outputs from all property portfolios [including operational, education, investment development and surplus]. Working directly with senior officers and members and a range of external stakeholders in order to drive strategic regeneration and development schemes across the city and achieve statutory requirements, the vision, values, aims and objectives of the authority.
Leading and delivering some incredibly exciting, major transformational regeneration initiatives including residential and mixed use developments that are spatially-focussed to continue the transformation and regeneration of our city. Charged with providing the assurance required in the achievement of Best Value in relation to the Council’s property transactions along with the effective delivery of development-driven work programmes and projects, our constitutional responsibility is paramount.
Our delivery networks and partnerships at national, regional, subregional and local levels with both public and commercial organisations are strong, ensuring that Manchester is at the forefront of best practice in the delivery of successful strategic developments.
