Description

Manchester City Council aims to be in the top-flight of world-class cities, with a dynamic and thriving economy, a highly skilled population; well-connected, addressing climate change; and helping all to achieve their potential in our attractive and welcoming city. We are a city with a rich history, a vibrant present-day, and much to look forward to in the future.

Central to our success and our future plans is the development which is taking place in our city, and particularly our city centre. We have a number of nationally significant schemes including Victoria North (delivering15,000 new homes), the Oxford Road Corridor, and regeneration of St John’s. We are leading the creation of great places that bring people and communities together, attract investment and ensure that Manchester continues to thrive.

We are now seeking a Strategic Lead, passionate about building collaborative, purposeful, and action-driven partnerships across the full public, private and voluntary sectors, to address/tackle key issues, such as homelessness, anti-social behaviour (ASB), night-time economy, clean and welcoming spaces. Working throughout the full system, you will be a pivotal player in working with colleagues and partners to drive intervention and deliver successful placemaking and a safe, clean and green city.

A natural relationship builder, you will be seen as a trusted partner to internal and external partners alike, with direct liaison with our neighbourhood teams, Greater Manchester Police, Business Improvement District Chairs and city centre business owners, and the voluntary sector. Solution-focused, you will be politically astute, open and transparent with stakeholder of all levels; steadfast in overseeing evidence-based strategy and policies that have a direct and meaningful impact upon services in the area. Crucially, you will be a leader who is able to inspire and motivate colleagues, business owners and regional partners, all in pursuit of making your mark on a vibrant internationally renowned City!
